    Property Managers are unprofessional
    Realtors are professional

You should consider high end properties where attorneys or other professionals live. Luxury condos are best especially if your husband is not a white collar professional or working for Boeing or Dow Chemical.

Plus if you have teeth you should not be doing property management. Okay?

The Management Companies assume that they can not afford your salary based upon you having Real Estate License therefore they hire an Assistant Manager and attempt to make them out of a Manager and offer them an hourly wage instead of salary…OR… You have been in the business too long and know what kind of salary you should make and they still can’t afford that either. Catch 22

For the position you are applying for you do not need a real estate license. If that was the case then everyone that owned four units or more and rented them out would need a license.

You also don't need to be rude to elders and obnoxious.

Basically you need common sense, understand a little about human nature, remember that this is a business.

The main thing in your line of work will be the safety and security of your tenants. The other thing is to insure that the area is always clean, damage to the units are kept to a minimum, tenant complaints are taken care of immediately or as soon as possible. If they can't be taken care of immediately make sure you inform the tenants.

Don't take sides in tenant squabbles as you might be forced to evict one or both, but you should keep friction down to the bare minimum between tenants.

I hope this has been of some use to you, good luck.

If it is a condo then the law allows for mediation and arbitration. After that you need to take the Condo Board to court under a civil suit.

Have you tried apartment complexes in your area? How about a self storage unit?

My company is almost always hiring in all three of those cities, but we are commercial real estate. If you have commercial experience, send me an e-mail, and I will send you a link to our careers page.

I would not expect a commercial property manager to be seeking job leads on YA, but you never know who hangs out here :-)

Market research in this case means a basic knowledge of the housing market (rentals) in your area. It might include knowing strategies to improve a complex, or buildings profitability, or how to persuade the tenants to be more timely in their payments. It's not any one skill set, but several.

In other words, the days of simply collecting rent are over. But if your mom is a quick study, she might be able to persuade them to give her a try, based on her previous experience.

    Good luck to her!

I believe that this is tax related for companies that get interest-dividends on tax-free municipal bonds (as investments).

It sounds like you have a lot of good experience and education….why dont you start calling some property management companies, find out who does the hiring, and tell them about yourself
